A machined component is not finished when it comes off the machine. It still needs marking, deburring, surface conditioning and passivation — and most machine shops stop at the first step.
That leaves you holding a raw part and four vendor relationships: one for laser, one for bead blast, one for electropolish, one for passivation. Four quotes, four lead times, four shipping legs, and four places for the schedule to slip.
FJM manages the chain. Parts arrive finished, marked and passivated, ready for your incoming inspection. If something needs re-running, that is one phone call to one person.
Finishing and secondary processes are performed by qualified outside vendors, managed by FJM on your behalf.

The job. An orthopedic device manufacturer needed a precision pin produced in ongoing batches — 600+ pieces over the life of the programme, released roughly 100 at a time.
Why it was harder than it looks. Every piece required far more than machining: laser marking, glass bead blasting, electropolishing and passivation, each with its own handling requirements — and every batch had to match the ones before it. Coordinating four secondary processes across repeat releases is where this kind of programme usually goes wrong.
How FJM ran it. All machining in-house, with the full finishing chain managed end to end. Parts delivered finished and passivated, batch after batch, on the customer’s release schedule.
